So….a few months ago, I started the Insanity workout. It’s amazing. So hard, I felt great…did it consistently for 2 weeks. Then, I fell off the wagon. After weeks of saying I was going to get back on track but never doing it, I finally decided today would be the day. And so, I am going to blog my progress.
INSANITY Workout is a 60-day cardio-based total-body conditioning program that’s perhaps the most intense workout ever put on DVD. Fitness expert Shaun T drew on his collegiate track and field training plus his subsequent years of experience as an elite trainer to create a program that takes total-body conditioning to an extreme level.
Today I started with the Fit Test. I was dragging ass, but something’s gotta give. I don’t know what it is, but knowing that I’m out of shape keeps me from doing the work out…and in turn, not doing the workout keeps me out of shape. Truly, it is a vicious cycle that has to be broken.
I complain all the time; I don’t have enough time to workout; I work all day; I teach yoga; I have to take yoga since I teach yoga; I really need that extra hour of sleep in the morning; oh yeah, I also need that extra hour of sleep at night; I’m hungry; I’m full; I ate like crap today so I can skip; I ate HEALTHY today so I don’t need to workout; maybe I’m not that out of shape; I just showered; I need to shower; I have no clean workout pants; All my workout pants are clean and I don’t wanna wash them again; I have a headache; I’m tired; did I mention that I’m tired? BLAH! I’m ridiculous!
I’ve decided to try Insanity again…truly, fully, no excuses. Even if I’m dragging…I’ll put that DVD in and just stand there for 45 minutes. It’s coming on, every day.
Today was the Fit Test:
Warm-up…easy enough. Jog in place, jumping jacks, high knees, butt kicks, mummy something-or-others, heisman jumps, some other things…about 5 minutes long, and felt good after. Next, you go through a bunch of different movements. The goal is to get as many reps as you can in one minute. 2 weeks later, you do it again, hoping to have improved.
Moving on.
Switch Kicks: ROUGH-AS-HELL.
Power Jacks: Not so bad…
Power Knees: Shoot me. Seriously…
Globe Jumps: Huffing, puffing, taking break after break…I need water, can’t breathe. This is INSANE.
Suicide Jumps: I rocked the shit out of these! :)
Push-up Jacks: Hard as hell. I can hardly do regular push-ups, let alone these.
Low Plank Obliques: Oooo I felt these…very hard. I was really sweating at this point. Yay!
Cool down and DONE. Truly, about 25 minutes. I’ve been through this before. I know that tomorrow is hard as hell and I know that I have to get up at 7 to do it!! Adios.
